Born and raised in Ohio, Allison Heutsche earned her BFA in Metal graduating from Kutztown University in 1997. In 1999, after two years of travel – including extended stays in Ireland and Martha’s Vineyard – she relocated to Los Angeles where she has resided ever since.

All of her pieces are hand fabricated from flat sheet metal and/or wire. By adding cuttings from previous works including various wires and pieces of old jewelry she allows each creation to organically take its shape. Allison’s process of integrating the old with the new, along with her desire to let no metal go to waste – while incorporating the jewelry’s flaws into the design – produce distinct, one-of-a-kind pieces full of beautiful imperfections.

After making jewelry for 10 years in April 2004 Allison officially took her passion of creating one-of-a-kind pieces to the next step and opened her business- Artasan.

In the spring of 2012 Allison decided to focus on making her own jewelry.
